Job Overview

Ackermans is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join our team as Shop Assistants/Cashiers (P27 role). The main purpose of this position is to deliver an outstanding customer shopping experience through effective stock replenishment, merchandising, housekeeping, and efficient processing of transactions at the till points.

Requirements and Skills

• Excellent customer service skills

• Fluent communication skills in English (additional languages are a plus)

• High energy levels and motivation

• Tenacious and target-driven personality

• Previous retail experience is advantageous but not required

Key Responsibilities

1. Customer Service:

• Deliver exceptional customer service for a positive shopping experience

• Assist customers in locating products

• Handle customer queries and complaints professionally

2. Cashier Duties:

• Process cash and card transactions

• Handle Lay-Bys and customer refunds

• Report discrepancies or issues to the supervisor

• Balance the till at the end of shifts

3. Merchandising:

• Ensure products are correctly priced, displayed, and available on the sales floor

• Maintain housekeeping standards

• Stay updated with current promotions

4. Risk Management:

• Ensure products are tagged according to company policies

• Participate in regular stock takes

• Monitor for shoplifting and report suspicious activities to management
