Introduction:
Transnet Freight Rail is recruiting 40 General Workers to support its Overhead Track Equipment (OHTE) maintenance teams in Gqeberha. This opportunity is ideal for individuals looking to enter South Africa’s railway and freight logistics sector. Candidates will assist in maintenance, construction, and operational tasks that ensure safe and efficient infrastructure services.
Job Responsibilities:

Support RNC Construction Teams on site
-
Assist with maintenance and upgrades of OHTE systems

Load, offload, and move materials and equipment
-
Erect ladders and perform high-elevation tasks
-
Clean work areas and maintain hand tools
-
Work in high-noise, high-risk environments following safety protocols

Complete tasks under supervision and follow daily instructions
Minimum Requirements:
-
Grade 9 school report or higher
-
Must be physically fit and able to handle manual labor

Medically fit (must pass a medical assessment)
-
Willing to work at heights and in confined spaces
-
Able to work in all weather conditions and after-hours if required

Basic communication and teamwork skills
-
Previous experience (6+ months) is an advantage but not required
