The Border Management Authority (BMA) has officially opened applications for its 2025–2027 Internship Programme, offering an opportunity for unemployed South African youth to gain valuable work experience. The programme spans 24 months, and is open to individuals aged 18–35 years with no prior internship experience.

Background & Job Description
The BMA Internship Programme is designed to provide practical workplace exposure to recent graduates in a range of academic disciplines. Interns will be placed across multiple departments and operational divisions to support BMA’s mission of securing South Africa’s borders and ensuring the smooth movement of goods and people.
Interns will be paired with experienced professionals, working within key strategic areas that align with national development priorities and compliance with international standards in border management.
Tasks
Interns will be expected to:
- Support daily administrative and operational tasks in their assigned departments
- Assist with project implementation and coordination
- Conduct research and compile reports
- Participate in workshops, seminars, and training programmes
- Ensure compliance with departmental protocols and legislation
- Contribute to strategic planning and risk management exercises
- Support monitoring and evaluation processes

Experience
- Must be unemployed and not have participated in any internship programme before
- Must be a South African citizen, between 18 and 35 years old
- Hold a 3-year National Diploma, BTech, or Degree from an accredited institution registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training
