AECI Mining is seeking to employ seven (7) Operations Assistants to support its operations in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga. This opportunity is ideal for energetic and safety-conscious individuals who are ready to take on a hands-on role within the mining explosives industry. The Operations Assistant will be responsible for assisting the MMU (Mobile Manufacturing Unit) Controller in the operation and maintenance of BLEND trucks, while ensuring compliance with safety standards and optimizing customer satisfaction through On Time In Full (OTIF) service delivery.

The role includes general support in blasting activities and housekeeping, ensuring that the mobile and fixed plant operations meet World Class Manufacturing (WCM) and SABS standards. This position offers a strong entry point into the explosive manufacturing and distribution segment of the mining sector.

• Assist the MMU Controller with the management and operation of the MMU (BLEND truck).
• Conduct regular inspections in compliance with SABS and World Class standards.
• Support in identifying non-conformances and assist with preventative measures.
• Perform various blasting-related functions such as:
  • Measuring holes
  • Stemming or closing charged holes
  • Cleaning blast areas
  • Guarding charged zones
• Conduct housekeeping duties:
  • Maintain cleanliness of wash bays and truck parks
  • Ensure MMUs are kept clean and operational
• Load and unload explosive materials and accessories into and from trucks.
• Assist in charging up duties on blasting benches.
• Observe all legal and safety requirements at the depot and customer sites.
• Handle hazardous products according to AECI’s safety protocols.
• Demonstrate the ability to work independently and contribute to a team-oriented environment.

• Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate
• Valid Code B Driver’s License

• Knowledge of safe working practices in hazardous environments
• Understanding of hazardous product handling protocols
• Prior exposure to blasting operations and product knowledge in the mining sector is advantageous
• Must be able to obtain a Red Ticket Health Clearance
